Getting Estimates

When you get an estimate from a contractor – you know that it will probably be a little bit off in the other direction. However, when you get an estimate based on the square footage of work being done and then they come back after working on it for 15 hours and apparently 1/2 of the time they couldn’t do anything because they were having a hard time and they say that it will be 3 times the cost!! That is not acceptable! Especially since I am paying them for the work…I already go the materials! So, NOW I am paying them per hour. I would NEVER pay a contractor by the hour – that is crazy! And that was not the deal in the estimate. And they said they worked 18 hours – I know for a fact it was 15 tops! AND if there was a problem they should have told me the second there was and let me know that it would be more….I said here is the money for the estimate and I’ll find someone else.

You can get custom pins for pretty much anything these days which is great because I think that they are much nicer to get rather than getting a trophy or a ribbon. You can actually pin a pin to a jacket and they are small so they will not take up a ton of room and be a dust collector in your child’s room. When I was in high school they use to give us pins so that we could put them on our letters on our jackets. It is like wearing a trophy but much lighter.

Easy Songs on the Guitar

There are so many easy songs on the guitar out there. You can get books out there that will make you sound like you are a pro even though they are the easiest songs in the world. I love the fake books out there for guitars. Learning to play an instrument is not as hard as it may seem but it does take time and patience. However, once you learn the basics of an instrument, especially the piano and guitar, then you will be able to play may things and actually learn songs on your own to impress everyone around you. And an instrument is a great outlet for stress that you may have in your life…it can help you relax.

Radio Flyer Tricycle

This is a great little toy. It took around an hour to put together but it would probably take less time if you were not watching TV. It is adorable. And even though it is winter time this is a great little bike for toddlers to practice on in your home. The wheels will not scratch the floor and it is small enough that you can maneuver it around tight wall corners. It is definitely a great toy to get a little boy or girl and the Radio Flyer Tricycle also has cute little light up buttons and sounds.

Soy foods are great but only if they are non GMO. If you are consuming GMO soy which means that it is non organic then you could be doing more harm than good. Did you ever stop to think that all the products that claim to help reduce certain cancers that people are eating more of are actually causing cancers because they are not the same foods anymore. Soy may have used to be healthy but now it is all GMO garbage destroying immune systems and your health.

What I’m going to do for New Year’s Eve is a little less of a concern for me now that I’m a bit older. But I remember how big of a deal it used to be for me, though. I used to always wonder about what I would be doing on that special night, but I haven’t felt that way for a while now. Well I thought that now my kids are a little older and I don’t have to worry about getting them in bed so early, that it would be fun to host a New Year’s Eve party.

I looked online to see if I could find some good info on how to throw a successful party with older kids. While I was doing that I ran across a miracle ear comparison and decided to go and get fitted with some hearing aids.

I have found some great things for that so far, but I think that I might have to pull down some board games from the attic just in case. You never know if kids are going to love or hate seomething, so it never hurts to have some back ups.

When it comes to hiking…you want to because that you have the right gear and osprey packs are a great thing to have on your travels. Hiking can be a lot of fun if you are prepared and if you like nature and like to walk of course. My co-worker and her family go hiking every year in the summer and just hike and camp out. They love it…it is something that you indeed need to like to do because it takes a lot and you have to be in good health. They take their 1 year old but lucky for her she gets to go in the hiking back pack…that is the best way to go hiking…ride on someones back!

I got a wool blanket that is so nice. My mother in law got it for me and it is my favorite because it is warm but it is even good on just a cool day. It is a really nice blanket.There is something about wool that is so nice..and not the itchy stuff that people always think about when they think of wool. And it is a nice fabric. The winter is upon us..well not really but it sure does feel like it. It went from a warm fall to a freezing winter and winter has not even started officially yet. I am expecting snow storms and many power outages because National Grid did not fix the lines from Irene properly so you may need miller welders generators. Ok – I had to get some Loctite for cement work I was doing…it is an industrial glue that will hold things to cement…it sucks! It does not work like it should and I had to stand there for 30 minutes because it was going to fall off. It was goopy and just didn’t work. I don’t’ know if I got a bad tube but I was very upset that I had wasted my time and money on this product!

My husband and I decided to call it quits last year. After several years of fighting, we decided to come to terms with the fact that we fell out of love. We have two children and agreed that they will live with me and visit him every other weekend. It has been really hard being a single mom and I was not at all prepared for it. In 2005 there was a new study on obese people and health risks. I read that on a site that has statistics about the National Institutes of Health, obesity kills 112,000 Americans a year. People only now seem to feel that people with morbid obesity and malignant obesity still have a high risk of premature death. Regular obesity is no more dangerous to health than being underweight. Something like this cost so much money to research…seems like a no brainer really. But this was one study, and more studies are probably needed to be sure, but I for one would rather be a little under rather than a little over weight.
Overweight problems still are a strain on our cost of health insurance.

My sister is now a certified X-ray technician but what she really wants to do is become a sonographer. But you have to get your X-ray certification first. She would love to just work in a medical office and be the sonographer that works with pregnant women….finding out what someone is having would be so exciting. I just got a beeswax candle and I love it. The scent is amazing and I am not breathing in anything unnatural. I don’t know much about wine. I know that I like to drink it. I prefer white over red, but other than that, I’m lost when looking at a wine list. I always feel uncomfortable when we go to a party and people start talking about wine and asking my opinion on the “bouquet”. I never know how to respond and honestly don’t have any desire to start educating myself on the subject. I have a friend who always seems to hold her own in those situations. She always has something interesting to say about the “bouquet” and the pseudo sommeliers at the party nod and smile in response to her. When I was over at her house the other day watching a movie and she popped open a box of wine, I decided to ask her about her wine tasting skills. She started to laugh and explain that she had watched a travel show on Expert Satellite about Napa Valley about three years ago. She said she just repeats things that she heard on the show—she really doesn’t know anything about wine. Needless to say, I was impressed!

I have been so tired lately. I really do not like the fall. It is getting darker earlier but then the sun comes out super early. So, I am all messed up with the light and dark schedule. Cleaning is so important for many reasons. The first being the obvious reason that it just looks and smells better but it keeps the germs at bay. Post Office

For the last couple of months, the mail has been moving too slow. Last month I called my credit card company, because the check I had written out more than a week before was not cashed. Today I had to call my bank, because the check I wrote out over a week ago was not received yet.
This is very upsetting. I am very old fashioned in that I like to do things by mail, but I don’t want to have my checks arriving late. How can the post office get away with this. When I called my bank this morning they told me that this has been an ongoing problem for a few months now. So if you are paying by mail, make sure you mail way in advance, and call to see if your check is received. They raise the price of stamps, and cut the quality of service – not right.

Plasma TV’s are not all that great in my opinion. If you are not watching something in hd then it is really not all that great in my opinion. I have a million chipmunks around my neighborhood…it is crazy ridiculous but I think that I have less than other neighbors because i planted garlic all around my yard. f you are getting up there in age then you had better have a good Medicare plan or some sort of plan in place. I can not believe how many times my grandmother has gone to the doctors and the specialist and the hospital just in the last month and she is not all that old. They just give her the run around and if she didn’t have insurance she would be in so much financial trouble. Of course she lives in a state where you are force to have insurance but that is another story. It is just good in the last few months that she had some sort of insurance to better help her out.

So, my good friend got a wool bed because they didn’t want to sleep on the toxic beds that are out there today…ok…however….the wool beds are a hard as a rock no matter how many toppers you get to make them softer. You have to constantly fluff them up if you want them to be comfy at night and not only that but they kind of stink a little too….and there is obviously no spring to it.

Every weekend without fail I sit the kids in front of the television so as we can sit as a family and be entertained by the awesome programs available. The massive assortment of educational documentaries that are shown on tvbydirect.com are fantastic and are excellent for children and adults of all ages. We watched a documentary film called ‘Hoop Dreams’ which is a sports documentary about basketball. My wife does not usually watch anything sports related but she watched every minute of Hoop Dreams and loved it.

The film is situated in the violent and turbulent inner city areas of Chicago and is a testament to the youths who can rise above the challenges of urban life. The film follows two basketball players over a five year period as they play basketball during college. It is a very moving yet powerful film which nearly had the wife in tears at the end and made her eyes moisten on several occasions. The Office is one of the best shows on television for seamlessly streamlining guest stars into their shows. They don’t ram them into their necessary roles the way many other shows do. I always loved watching seasons of The Office on direct.tv and Tim Meadows was one of the most natural guest stars they ever had. Maybe it’s because Tim Meadows never became a “huge” television star. Don’t get me wrong, Tim Meadows is an amazing comedic actor. I love him. Still, his many years on Saturday Night Live largely went unnoticed, though he w! as on the show for at least ten years. He had a few hit sketches on Saturday Night Live, but nothing to remember for years to come. Perhaps his lack of total and utter fame helped him fit in with the “real” life of The Office, which is set in the ho-hum town of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Tim Meadows excelled at his role of a local manager who had to decide on whether Dunder-Mifflin paper was right for his needs. He played off of Michael Scott, played by Steve Carell, perfectly. By the end of the episode, the entire audience knew why he had decided to go with Dunder-Mifflin. It didn’t feel fake. Add in his rendition of “I Want My Baby Back (Baby Back)” and you’ve got television comedy gold.

I love my kids, but it can be so frustrating when I try to walk through the living room early in the morning with my cup of coffee to wake up before I go to work and I step on a bunch of toys. It also really hurts too. As many times as I tell the kids not to leave the toys out like that, I guess this will keep going on until I get them a toy box or some other kind of storage for their toys.

So I went online to find a way to put together a toy box for my kids to help with this problem. That’s when I came across teh website www.ClearwireInternet.com and after I looked through it a little bit, I showed it to my wife and we decided to order one of the internet packages that we found on there for our own internet service.

I found some directions on how to make a DIY toy box that sounded pretty simple, so I bought all the stuff for it and even picked up some paint and stencils so the kids can personalize it.
